Little Footsteps, Big Future: Celebrating Our Jarjums at Koobara
On August 5th, Koobara Kindergarten proudly partnered with the Metro North Hospital & Health Service – Strong Start to Life team to host a vibrant celebration for National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. This year’s theme, “Little Footsteps, Big Future,” resonated deeply with our community as we came together to honour the strength, potential, and cultural identity of our jarjums (children).
A Day of Connection and Celebration
The morning was filled with joy and laughter as families, staff, and community members gathered at Koobara Kindy for a day of fun activities, lucky door prizes, a free BBQ, and a beautiful celebration cake representing the unity of our Kindy, Playgroup, and wider community.
Honouring Little Footsteps
At Koobara, we believe every child’s journey is sacred. “Little Footsteps, Big Future” reminds us that the early years are a powerful time to nurture confidence, cultural pride, and a sense of belonging. Our jarjums are the heartbeat of our community, and through events like this, we walk alongside them—supporting their growth, celebrating their milestones, and empowering their futures.
Special Thanks
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our collaborators and supporters who helped make the day so special:
Deadly Kindies
C&K (Creche and Kindergarten Association)
IUIH (Institute for Indigenous Urban Health)
Taigum State School
Each organisation hosted an information and activity marquee that engaged our jarjums and families, offering valuable resources and fun experiences that enriched the celebration.
We also thank the Strong Start to Life team for their ongoing support and partnership. Your presence and contributions helped create a warm, welcoming space for families to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
