At Koobara, we pride ourselves on the quality and experience of our staff, and the warm and secure environment we provide for your child. It is our desire that you and your child will feel valued and appreciated throughout the year for what you bring to our Koobara community and the learning experience.  Koobara is committed to maintaining strong respectful working relationships with our community partners.  We hope you come to love Koobara as much as we do!

Our centre provides an environment that promotes cultural-responsiveness. Children will be able to build their cultural understandings as they become aware and appreciative of their own and others’ cultural identities. Children will begin to identify and appreciate similarities and differences within and between the contemporary lifestyles and languages of their own family and various cultural groups.  Culture is a proven protective factor for children, and we honor this at Koobara.

Our centre recognises that each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child learns in his/her own individual way and at his/her own pace. Our priority is the child: and here at Koobara we view and treat each child as capable. Our intent is to provide all children with a developmentally-appropriate environment that encourages personal growth. Therefore, our aim is to teach the whole child and to utilise all domains of development which incorporates cultural, spiritual, physical, natural, emotional, cognitive, social and historical components.

Our responsibility as staff is to provide children with a smooth transition into kindy and school by working alongside families.  We also aim to inspire a strong cultural connection to Koobara’s natural environment in our children, which we believe will empower them to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
