Bush Kindy – It’s Deadly!

Koobara Kindergarten Learning Story: Exploring and Connecting on Turrbal and Yuggera Country.

This week, our Jarjums embarked on a special journey, immersing themselves in the beauty and knowledge of Turrbal and Yuggera Country. Both kindy groups ventured to Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre to take part in the inspiring Bush Kindy – It’s Deadly program.

Through nature play, our Jarjums deepened their understanding of Indigenous culture, the environment, and their connection to place. They learned about Mother Earth and the importance of caring for all her children.

We went on a walk through the forest, taking in the sights, sounds, and wisdom of nature. After our journey, the Jarjums got to play back at Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre, engaging in a variety of enriching play experiences within the bush surroundings.

This hands-on adventure encouraged curiosity, respect, and appreciation for Country. By engaging with the land, listening to stories, and experiencing Indigenous perspectives, the Jarjums built a strong foundation of environmental awareness and cultural appreciation.

It was a meaningful experience that brought learning to life—one that we will continue to reflect upon and integrate into our everyday understanding of connection, care, and community.
