Celebrating Jake Fabila: A Proud Jabbir Jabbir Man and Valued Koobara Educator

We are proud to introduce Jake Fabila, a proud Jabbir Jabbir man from the Kimberley region of Western Australia, who brings a deep cultural richness to Koobara Kindy. Although Jake grew up in Brisbane, his strong connection to his heritage has remained central to his identity and work. As a former Koobara Kindy jarjum himself, Jake’s journey has come full circle—now serving as our Inclusion Support Worker, he is a cherished member of our educational team.

Jake is a talented musician and a member of the dynamic group Tjaka, which has toured internationally in the UK and Taiwan. His musical talents, especially his didgeridoo playing, are more than performances—they are cultural experiences that he shares with our children. Through music and storytelling, Jake helps jarjums connect with Aboriginal culture in a way that is engaging, respectful, and deeply meaningful.

Jake’s knowledge has been passed down through generations in his family, and he brings this wisdom into the classroom every day. His presence fosters a sense of belonging and pride among our children, especially those from First Nations backgrounds. His work supports inclusion, cultural education, and emotional wellbeing, making him an integral part of our team.

At Koobara Kindy, we value Jake not only for his talents but for the warmth, respect, and cultural integrity he brings to our learning environment. His contributions help shape a space where all children feel seen, heard, and connected to culture.
